Out Proud Olympians is an worldwide organization of sportsmen and sportswomen who have participated at the international level of sport. Our mandate is to eliminate homophobia in sport, encourage active healthy living in the LGBT community, and facilitate participation of this group at major sporting events.
We are affiliated with GLISA and the
Montreal 2006 and
Copenhagen 2009
Outgames, and are pleased to be working in partnership with Eurogames
2007 Antwerp and Eurogames 2008
Barcelona. We very much aim to be part of the 2010
Winter Olympics in Vancouver and the 2012
Summer Olympics in London.

Out Proud Olympians envision a future international sport culture that welcomes, encourages and celebrates participation of LGBT persons as competitors, coaches, officials and volunteers.

Out Proud Olympians is a worldwide LGBT family of former and current Olympic participants, whose aim is to eliminate homophobia in sport, and encourage not only active healthy living in the LGBT community, but facilitate participation of this group at major sporting events. Through outreach, the delivery of educational workshops and peer mentoring, particularly in regions such as Africa, Latin and South America and Eastern Europe, our goal is to reduce the barriers that inhibit LGBT people from experiencing their own Olympic dreams as an "out" athlete or participant.

Organize outreach programs and mentoring opportunities at major sporting events to facilitate the participation of LGBT athletes, coaches, officials and volunteers.
Through visibility and raised awareness, promote healthier lifestyles among LGBT people through sport and cultural activities.
To work cooperatively with other organizations, groups and individuals, including GLISA and the Outgames, to develop the LGBT sport movement and the eliminate homophobia in sport.
